Clearspeed's dual-use voice-based risk assessment technology gets investment boost.

Clearspeed has successfully raised USD60million in series D funding bringing its total to USD110million in efforts to expand its voice-based risk assessment platform across various industries.

Among other sectors, this funding will be used to accelerate its growth in critical industries including defence, security, and government services.

The funding round, led by Align Private Capital, received significant backing from notable investors, including General (Retd) David Petraeus, former CIA Director and Commander of US Central Command.

Petraeus emphasised the importance of evolving security solutions alongside emerging threats, stating, “Clearspeed’s AI-enabled voice analytics delivers outsized value for personnel vetting, insider threat mitigation, and enterprise security—where building trust quickly is paramount”.

This support demonstrates the technology’s value in reducing fraud, speeding up decisions, and enhancing security, and marks a pivotal moment as we scale our groundbreaking technology.

Originally developed for vetting Afghanistan commando recruits, Clearspeed is attempting to transform risk assessment and insider threat detection. Unlike traditional tools, Clearspeed’s system is non-invasive, language-agnostic, and can operate at scale.

The technology uses voice in simple yes/no response questionnaires to flag potential risks and focuses follow-up resources only where needed. The simple insertion is ideal for high-risk environments where precision at scale is essential, like border security, military vetting, and operational integrity programmes.

Clearspeeds technology is already used by defence organisations for rapid and secure risk assessment. They are trusted by special operations and law enforcement agencies worldwide such as US Special Operations Command and the Global SOF Foundation, using voice-based questionnaires to detect potential risks with speed and accuracy. Partnerships like these focus on enhancing mission-critical vetting workflows and securing operations where speed, accuracy, and, ultimately, trust are paramount.

Clearspeed’s CEO, Alex Martin, says, “This investment reinforces that our mission – and Clearspeed’s irreplaceability – is irrefutable… We’re on to something entirely new. We’re building the infrastructure of trust for sectors where failure isn’t an option, by fundamentally addressing the complexity of human risk to create a trust advantage”.

For defence and security teams, the company’s mission of trust is proactive rather than reactive defence and they represent something more than innovation–mission-critical assurance.

It’s mission is to enable trust, faster for its partners which face a rapidly changing global security environment. This newly secured funding will enhance the company’s support for governments and defence agencies.
