Tim Jenkins joined the Territorial Army in 1985 and was commissioned three years later. A combination of Army restructures and civilian employment relocations resulted in him serving in a variety of infantry battalions at Regimental Duty. He finally transferred to The Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment in 2000 on assuming command of a rifle company.

As a lieutenant colonel, he commanded Southampton University Officers’ Training Corps and on promotion to colonel served at the Army Officer Selection Board, Army Recruiting & Initial Training Command, and the Land Warfare Centre. He has voluntarily mobilised for operational deployments on three occasions, serving in the Middle East and Africa.

He was appointed Deputy Director Reserves UK Strategic Command in August 2023.

In civilian life he stepped back from a long career in the automotive financial services industry in 2022; his last appointment was Fiat Chrysler Automotive Bank’s UK Marketing & Sales Director. He has since moved into programme management on a contract basis, most recently working for the Home Office and Ministry of Defence.
