Stuart Dee is a research leader in the defence and security research group at RAND Europe, focusing primarily on defence economics and spending, capability development and collaboration issues, including particular involvement in AUKUS Pillars I & II.
He joined RAND after spending over a decade in industry, most recently at Rolls-Royce plc where he was involved in a number of large defence programmes including Eurofighter Typhoon, the Future Combat Air System and AUKUS. He has also spent time as a secondee into UK Government working on export and industrial strategy policy and previously sat on Government working groups on defence exports and industrialisation.
He is a Ph.D. Candidate at the UK Defence Academy researching the economic and strategic imperatives of AUKUS for member states and holds a B.Sc. (Hons) in politics with international relations. He was previously a delegate to the Advanced Command and Staff Course at the UK Defence Academy and is a Member of the Royal Aeronautical Society (MRAeS).
