ACOS Capability Delivery C2ISR, RAF

Air Commodore Barrow was commissioned into the Royal Air Force in 1988 as a navigator, initially flying operationally on the Tornado F3.  Barrow’s career has subsequently seen him command Number 5 Sqn, supporting Op HERRICK and leading the ISTAR deployment for Op ELLAMY, and then commanding 904 Expeditionary Air Wing (EAW) at Kandahar Airfield.

Upon returning from Afghanistan, the then Group Captain Barrow was appointed Deputy Head Complex Weapons before assuming command of RAF Waddington in November 2013. Here, he was responsible for seven ISTAR flying squadrons and over 3000 personnel.  In recognition of his leadership in this period, he was promoted within the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire to the rank of Commander (CBE).

In June 2016, he became Head Air Staff in MOD and was chosen to be the 1* lead for the exceptionally successful RAF100.  Air Commodore Barrow is currently the Senior Responsible Owner for Air ISR and C2 capability programmes.

  • DSEI is a highlight within the defence calendar, I use it to find out what the most recent developments are in every technological area affecting for defence. Without DSEI I fear this sort of interaction, information exchange and knowledge of developments across all domains would be lost. DSEI is an invaluable international biannual event .
Rt Hon Dr Julian Lewis MP, Chairman, House of Commons Defence Select Committee
    UK Parliament
  • DSEI is a fantastic showcase for defence companies where international buyers, sellers, developers, thinkers, educators and the trainers can all get together. The UK defence industry is looking to recruit more engineers, scientists and developers into 200,000 jobs and up to 10,000 apprentices within UK defence companies. DSEI is an excellent tool to highlight the challenges the industry face as well as showcase its capabilities domestically and overseas.
