Nikki Sun
Nikki is a researcher at Chatham House in London and a former journalist based in Hong Kong. Her research focuses on the intersection of technology, public policy, and international relations. Within the Digital Society Initiative, she contributes to work examining the impact of emerging technologies on the future of work and broader tech governance issues. Nikki recently completed a 10-month project that investigates AI's impact on employment in China. The final report is expected to be published in late 2023.
Prior to Chatham House, Nikki worked as a tech correspondent for Nikkei Asia, focusing on China's internet sector and electric vehicles. She wrote extensively on the development of critical technologies such as autonomous driving and covered a wide range of topics, including the US-China tech rivalry, Beijing’s regulatory actions on big tech platforms, and data protection regulations.
