Major Max Marsden
Major Max Marsden is an honorary clinical lecturer at the Centre for Trauma Sciences, Queen Mary University of London and a General Surgery Registrar at the Royal London Hospital, London, UK. Max’s recently completed PhD examines the impact of an Artificial Intelligence system on clinical decision making. Max’s work uses a Bayesian Network model to assess the risk of Bleeding and Trauma Induced Coagulopathy in casualties early after injury. The research was conducted with London’s Air Ambulance, Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance and several Major Trauma Centres in London and the South of England.
Alongside his decision-making research Max assisted with clinical studies and education on the use of REBOA. Max works alongside London’s Air Ambulance REBOA programme and is a founding member of the UK military’s REBOA programme. His clinical interests include the management of haemorrhage and blood replacement. Max enjoys teaching and recently received a Post Graduate Certificate in Medical Education. He teaches regularly on REBOA, surgical skills and military trauma courses.
