Masami OKA was appointed as the first Chief Executive of the GCAP International Government Organisation (GIGO) in December 2024 to lead the multi-national organisation to deliver the next-generation fighter jet for Italy, Japan and the United Kingdom. In his capacity, his responsibilities include but are not limited to delivering GCAP through all phases of the programme, as well as ensuring effective management and operation of the GIGO.
Previously, he served as a defense official in Japan Ministry of Defense since 1986, where he took on various key roles in defense policy and international affairs, including Vice Minister for International Affairs. After retiring from Japan Ministry of Defense, he became an advisor to the Minister of Defense. Prior to the current appointment, he was General Manager for Global Combat Air Programme in Japanese Ministry of Defense, where he oversaw the programme from JMOD perspectives.
