Major General Johnny K. Davis
Major General Johnny K. Davis assumed command of the United States Army Recruiting Command (USAREC) and Fort Knox in 2022. As the Commanding General of USAREC, Major General Davis oversees 8 Brigades consisting of 44 Battalions, 256 Companies, and 1385 stations across the United States, Japan, South Korea, Italy, and Guam. He is responsible for providing the strength for America’s Army.
MG Davis is a native of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was commissioned through the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) program at New Mexico Military Institute. He has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Cardinal Stritch University, Master of Science in Leadership Development from Central Michigan University, and a Master of Science in National Security and Strategic Studies from National Defense University.
Throughout his 33 years in the United States Army, MG Davis has served in a variety of positions, to include Command, the Joint Staff, and the Army Staff. He has deployed in support of Operation Uphold Democracy, Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation New Dawn.
MG Davis’ awards and decorations include the Army Distinguished Service Medal, Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal for Valor, Iraq Campaign Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, and Valorous Unit Award.
