James joined the Ministry of Defence in 2023, initially as part of a Rapid Talent Initiative Tiger Team. His role as a Problem Manager in Strategic Command Innovation has progressed into becoming a Project Manager within jHub, Strategic Commands innovation unit.
James has a background in Design Engineering, holding an MSc from Nottingham Trent University, which was funded by PepsiCo Europe. Following his MSc, he worked as a Research Assistant for PepsiCo with a focus on Systems Engineering, Factory Automation, Supply Chain and Lean processes. 
After delivering successful projects, James matriculated into the University of Cambridge to study MPhil Engineering for Sustainable Development. He then completed a Hacking for Defence (H4MOD) course at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst where he worked with a team to improve the procurement of land equipment by implementing the principles of Circular Economy. It was after this that he joined the MOD.
In 2024, James took on the role as jHub CC&S Lead to act as a point of contact and to manage the jHub CC&S portfolio.
During his time in the MOD, James has managed numerous projects for stakeholders spanning the breadth of the defence ecosystem, these include the trial of new technologies, strategy, energy storage and generation opportunities, working groups & international engagements.
