Gaz Littlechild OBE

A retired senior military leader, Gaz served in the Royal Air Force for over thirty years after leaving school in 1992. A fast jet weapons systems operator and tactics instructor, Gaz’s
specialisations included electronic warfare, operational planning & execution and flight instruction. He also served in several capability acquisition roles, primarily in emerging and
developing technology for the ‘future fight’.
Awarded the OBE in 2016 for his ‘exceptional leadership under extreme pressure’ during the Syria campaign, Gaz has also frequently commanded on operations, including Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya and Syria.
Gaz’s penultimate role in the UK military (2019-2021) was as a UK Exchange Officer to the US Department of Defense (DoD) in the Pentagon, Washington DC. As the RAF’s senior officer in the Pentagon, he initially worked with the US Air Force HQ on innovation strategy and emerging tech-related projects. In early 2021, Gaz moved to the newly formed US Space Force HQ to become the Deputy Division Head for Global Partnership Plans & Policy. On his return to the UK in spring 2022, Gaz became the Programme Director for the UK Government’s space-based intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) projects at HQ UK Space Command.
Gaz retired from military service in Oct 2023, beginning with MDA Space UK at their Harwell HQ location in September 2023, as the Director for new UK Government business. He remains a Reserve Officer for the RAF and UK Space Command on a part time basis.
