Air Commodore Angela Baker

Head Support Futures and Operational Energy Authority, Strategic Command
United Kingdom

Ange joined the RAF as a logistics officer in 1996, after completing a degree at Leeds University. Her early years were operationally focused, undertaking tours in Kosovo, Bosnia, Iraq and Afghanistan covering a range of operational logistics roles, including movements, fuels and plans. She gained a range of staff experience in MOD, Permanent Joint HQ and Air Command, in both logistics and generalist roles, including international engagement in the Air Staff and as a Military Assistant to a Vice Admiral. From 2012-2014, she commanded the Airport of Embarkation Wing at RAF Brize Norton. As a group captain, she was the logistics lead in Air Command and then became the Air Commodities Team Leader within Defence Equipment & Support, prior to attending the Royal College of Defence Studies. She promoted in 2021 into her current role as Head of Futures and the Operational Energy Authority in Defence Support.  Her 2009 Advanced Staff Course dissertation was focused on making the MOD a more sustainable organisation and so she was pleased when the current role developed to include leading on the Sustainable Support Strategy work and helping to form and lead the Operational Energy Authority and starting to shape UK Defence’s approach to the global energy transition.
