Principal Armour Scientist and Project Technical Authority, Reactive and Passive Protection Team, Dstl

Dr Alex Cook has a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Edinburgh and has been at Dstl since 2008, working in the Armour Capability, part of the Physical Sciences Group.  His research has focussed on technologies for the protection against kinetic energy threats from small arms up to medium cannon, in the Land and Maritime Domains.  He is a Principal Armour Scientist and the Project Technical Authority for the Land Armour and Maritime Physical Protection Projects.

As well as several Land platforms, Alex has been involved in the application of protection technologies in most of the recent UK ship procurement programmes, including T26, T31, QECV and OPV.
