Air Commodore Jules Ball joined the RAF in 1989. First posted to the Tornado F3, Ball was then selected for exchange duties with the US Navy, flying the F14 Tomcat.
Following a staff tour Ball returned to the cockpit with XXV(F) Sqn then posted to PJHQ as the senior desk officer for all air/ aviation issues in support of operations in Iraq/Afghanistan.
In 2009, Ball was posted to command 39 Squadron, operating the MQ-9 Reaper, based in Nevada.
Following promotion Ball was posted to Al Udeid where he oversaw UK Air operations in Afghanistan/Broader Middle East.
In 2012 Ball moved to PJHQ J5 then onto HQ Air A5, responsible for RAF capability in support of air operations worldwide.Appointed an OBE in the 2012 New Year’s Honours List, Ball was promoted to Air Commodore in 2017 to lead Capability and Force Development at HQ Air.
