Ukraine’s Brave1 Market allows suppliers to track kit performance

Suppliers can track how many different military units are using their kit to what targets their systems are destroying.

Manufacturers supplying their systems to Ukraine’s Brave1 Market – an online marketplace for equipment – can now see the performance of their technology deployed on the battlefield, according to a post by Brave1 on 6 January.

“Brave1 Market is now more than just the largest defence tech marketplace; it is a source of unique analytics that helps manufacturers compete, innovate, and increase effectiveness”, Mykhailo Fedorov, First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine, said.

Brave1, Ukraine’s foremost defence technology cluster, launched a marketplace for military technology in April 2025, with the aim of making a broad variety of products more accessible to its forces.

Since then, the catalogue has grown with over a thousand products listed on the platform. This is expanding, with DSEI Gateway reporting in September that Brave1 plans to continue expanding its scope, with interceptor drones now available on the platform.

This latest upgrade to the Brave1 Market allows manufacturers to track several different performance metrics for their equipment deployed by Ukraine’s military.

The first of these is based on market share within the Brave1 Market, measured by the “ratio of the company’s sales to the total volume – both by category and for specific products”.

Additionally, drone strike statistics are now provided, helping suppliers understand the effectiveness of their drones through the number of “hits and points” the platforms achieve. Its ranking compared with other drones in a similar category is also shown.

“Traditionally, manufacturers had to reach out to individual military units to gather feedback. That process is often time consuming... Our system provides hard data with a single click”, a spokesperson for Brave1 told DSEI Gateway.

Suppliers can also see the specific targets their equipment has neutralised, such as personnel or vehicles, for example, and the distance from the frontline where strikes are undertaken.

Meanwhile, a list of Ukrainian units which are using specific products is also now available.

The addition of these analytics dashboards “completely changes the way defence technology is developed. For the first time in history, the state is collecting this level of battlefield data and sharing it directly with manufacturers”, the spokesperson explained.

They went on to highlight other benefits, such as in fighting corruption, noting that “effectiveness is measured in real time, so ineffective weapons that someone is trying to lobby simply won’t survive in this kind of transparent ecosystem”.

It comes as Ukraine explores the gamification of certain parts of warfare to incentivise iteration and active battlefield testing of new technology.

This is particularly evident in Brave1 Market’s scoring of Ukrainian units, where they achieve “combat points” for each successful engagement of a Russian target. Soldiers gain 12 points for neutralising an adversary soldier, 40 for destroying a tank, and up to 70 for mobile rocket systems, according to the New York Times.

Soldiers can then exchange points for new equipment from the Brave1 Market, with the Ukrainian Government handling the cost of logistics.

Commenting on the scoring system in April, Fedorov said that “this is not just a motivational tool... it’s a mechanism that is changing the rules of war.”
