The move signals the company is betting on potential UK orders.
German startup ARX Robotics is establishing a new office in the UK to increase its production capacity and bolster “Europe’s sovereign defence landscape”, the company announced on 9 April.
ARX Robotics produces small, modular uncrewed ground vehicles (UGVs) capable of supporting a wide range of missions including surveillance, reconnaissance, logistics, clearance work, and casualty evacuation. Their main product is the Gereon modular UGV, which can carry payloads of up to 500kg.
The company is a case example of the support the NATO Innovation Fund is providing to innovative companies, having received EUR9 million from the fund last year.
Established in 2021, the company has cultivated a close working relationship with the German and British Army, where their technology is undergoing field trials. The Gereon is also operational in Ukraine.
DSEI’s Editor in Chief witnessed the Gereon UGV during an Estonia-led autonomous UGV trial two years back, where it faced the likes of Rheinmetall’s 6x6 Mission Master SP and Nexter’s Ultro 4x4 vehicle. It was impressive, given it was hurriedly built in time to participate, although it struggled over the challenging dense terrain of Estonia’s forests.
