Defence competitions are increasingly seeking equipment with both civilian and military applications.
The European Defence Agency (EDA) has launched a request for information (RFI) to explore available dual-use capabilities within the uncrewed aircraft system (UAS) sector, an 11 June announcement revealed.
Looking at drone applications from both defence and commercial settings, the EDA said it aims to encourage competition in the area.
The RFI also looks to refine and streamline procurement strategies through industry insights as well as identify potential UAS suppliers, the EDA said.
While not a call for tender, interested organisations are encouraged to provide information about their UAS offerings for the EDA to track and evaluate available solutions.
Submissions must be completed by 31 July, the EDA said. Interested parties are also welcome to share insights that could help refine the EDA’s procurement strategy.
A key area of interest under the RFI is aircraft specification, including detailed technical information regarding payload, automation and redundancy, communications, data, cybersecurity, operational experience, logistics, personnel, and any other dual-use capabilities.
Other areas of interest include details of the manufacturers and suppliers involved in the UAS supply chain, as well as insights into emerging or innovative technologies in the UAS space.
