DSEI 2017 - Jane’s by IHS Markit Launches Enhanced GEOINT Solution

12 Sep 2017 by: Joanna Vickers, Associate Director PR, IHS Markit Jane's

LONDON (12 September 2017) – Today at DSEI, Jane’s by IHS Markit announced the launch of its enhanced GEOINT solution: providing geo-located, open source information to help users anticipate and respond to evolving threats across the world.

“The growth and diversification of the digital open source information domain and the proliferation of commercially available mapping tools, satellite imagery services, and other resources is changing the nature of open source intelligence analysis,” said Alex Hazell, director of Product Management, Jane’s by IHS Markit. “With the increasing rise of territorial conflicts, border disputes, terrorism and civil unrest, the need to visualize information geospatially to increase situational awareness of a region has never been more important.”

Jane’s GEOINT provides intelligence organizations with optimized GEOINT capabilities to enable them to monitor, understand and anticipate threats quickly and effectively. The solution offers a detailed picture of dynamic events worldwide to deliver clear and actionable results.

“The need for a sharable common operating picture (COP) is critical to modern military operations. Jane’s threat information, coupled with a range of GEOINT tools, allows customers to build an unclassified threat picture which is sharable across organizations without jeopardizing sources and methods,” said LTC (Ret.) James Dickey, Jane’s by IHS Markit and former US Army Division G2 and Senior Intelligence Analyst for US Army Central Command.

Jane’s GEOINT geo-references Jane’s data and analysis within a map interface, delivering access to a variety of geospatial layers including:

  • Bases (air, land, and sea)
  • Air defense, SAM, and EW
  • Nuclear sites
  • Terrorism and counter terrorism events
  • Intelligence events (state and civil events that impact risk or security)
