Delivering a next-generation combat air capability through the Global Combat Air Programme
Launched in December 2022, the Global Combat Air Programme (GCAP) is one of the world’s most strategically important Defence programmes working to deliver a next generation combat aircraft. This trilateral programme between the UK, Italy and Japan has made significant progress, including the standing up of the GCAP International Government Organisation (GIGO) and the international joint venture Edgewing, which will work together to deliver the programme.
We have the GIGO Chief Executive Masami Oka, Edgewing Chief Executive Officer, Marco Zoff, and Richard Berthon, UK Director for GCAP and first Chair of the GCAP Steering Committee. Together, the GCAP senior leaders will discuss why a next-generation combat air capability is an essential military requirement in the face of new and proliferating threats. They will also discuss the benefits that the programme brings to each partner nation and its industries, export potential for other countries, interoperability, and how the GIGO and Edgewing will work collaboratively to enhance programme delivery.
