New defence programmes are growing in complexity with systems of systems now at the heart of development. The need for cross discipline and geography collaboration from the outset to ensure success means an urgent need for certainty in acquisition. Model based techniques have long been used in systems design, and so lend themselves to the challenges of large enterprise acquisition, where controlled consumption of data is key.
