New defence programmes are growing in complexity with systems of systems now at the heart of development. The need for cross discipline and geography collaboration from the outset to ensure success means an urgent need for certainty in acquisition. Model-based techniques have long been used in systems design, and so lend themselves to the challenges of large enterprise acquisition, where controlled consumption of data is key. Through this session, industry representatives including both practitioners and technology providers will discuss how an integrated approach to acquisition supports the broader shift toward model-based practices, and why this alignment is increasingly important for driving innovation in major defence projects.
