Day One (Tuesday 14 September) was dedicated to military-industry engagement and acquisition strategy, providing in-depth analysis of key capabilities and technology programmes from their service leaders, as well as where the business development opportunities are for solution providers to join the supply chain.
It is crucial to have a strong shared understanding of requirements between military and industry, to ensure that ambitions for military capability align with existing industry capability. A key focus of this strategy is the expansion of the supply chain to find new and non-traditional partners in key emerging technology areas, with more direct-access opportunities on offer for SME’s through grants and technology accelerators.
This day shone a spotlight on the unique procurement challenges of each force. This is an opportunity for the industry to understand precisely what their customers want, and for the military to outline how they plan to procure it.
DSEI 2021 has worked in close partnership with a number of UK MoD Working Groups to develop this theme in accordance with the needs of the industry. There is a focus on clarifying routes to contract, and strengthening partnerships between user and vendor.
