Defence Transformation in the GCC

10 Sep 2019
NG Suite 12
‘Transformation’ seems to be a constant refrain in the corridors of the defence and security ministries across the GCC at the moment. There appears to be a clear desire to change the status quo, to focus on efficiency and value for money and to improve capability. This seminar will focus on the approach being taken to transformation, the opportunities for business and the maturity of the transformation programmes themselves. Consulting companies, large and small, have played a major role in the development of grand plans and strategies often reflecting ‘best practice’ from Western countries and now the challenge to tailor advice to suit bespoke, national and regional requirements is beginning. It is no overstatement to say that huge opportunities remain, but companies need to be aware of the direction of travel of transformation in their market segment as well as regulatory changes such as offset and local national employment programmes.

  • DSEI is a highlight within the defence calendar, I use it to find out what the most recent developments are in every technological area affecting for defence. Without DSEI I fear this sort of interaction, information exchange and knowledge of developments across all domains would be lost. DSEI is an invaluable international biannual event .
Rt Hon Dr Julian Lewis MP, Chairman, House of Commons Defence Select Committee
    UK Parliament
  • DSEI is a fantastic showcase for defence companies where international buyers, sellers, developers, thinkers, educators and the trainers can all get together. The UK defence industry is looking to recruit more engineers, scientists and developers into 200,000 jobs and up to 10,000 apprentices within UK defence companies. DSEI is an excellent tool to highlight the challenges the industry face as well as showcase its capabilities domestically and overseas.
James Gray MP, House of Commons Defence Committee
