Key Themes

As a result of feedback from our audience after the 2019 show, and following the Integrated Review launched in 2020, DSEI 2021 will focus more heavily on the relationship between military and industry.

What are the operational and purchasing requirements of the international defence community? How can the companies with solutions best engage to meet these needs?

The DSEI conference and seminar theme breaks down into three core components:

Obtaining & Retaining Skills

Obtaining & Retaining Skills

As technology and strategic approach evolves, so do the skills required to implement them. Every force faces the constant question of where the next generation of recruits will come from. Added to that is the necessity of forecasting the required recruitment profile of tomorrow, and the challenge of keeping suitably skilled actors within the industry. Technology requires highly trained people to operate it, and we are putting people first on our 2021 agenda.
Future Operational Requirements

Future Operational Requirements

The ever-changing threat landscape dictates future operational requirements, which then impacts joint force strategy. By outlining current plans for future projects, it is possible to assess what the key threats are forecast to be and the challenges they are likely to present.
Industry Engagement & Acquisition

Industry Engagement & Acquisition

To properly meet those challenges, it is crucial to have good relationships and a strong shared understanding of requirements between military and industry. These theme will be present throughout the entire show, but the third day will shine a spotlight on the unique procurement challenges of each force. This is an opportunity for the industry – including non-traditional suppliers – to understand precisely what their customers want, and for the military to outline how they plan to procure it.
