DSEI surpasses all records and attracts over 32,000 international visitors

From September 10-13 at ExCeL London, the largest DSEI to date brought together over 32,000 visitors from 121 countries to source the latest equipment and systems, develop international relationships, and generate new business opportunities. 

DSEI continues to strengthen its position as the world leading defence and security event and with more exhibitors and educational content than ever before, DSEI gave access to:

  • 32,169 visitors – up 13% from 28,440 in 2011
  • 1,489 international exhibitors – an unrivalled range of suppliers from more than 50 countries
  • 40 international pavilions  – up from 30 in 2011
  • 97 Official Delegations from 56 countries – up 30% from 2011
  • 1,034 additional VIPs in attendance – up 20% from 2011

DSEI highlights

Tuesday's highlights: 

  • First Sea Lord delivered a keynote address in the naval theatre and was joined by an impressive array of eminent naval representatives who led a series of presentations and panel sessions on Future Capabilities.
  • Ministerial keynote address in land theatre.
  • DSEI 2013 welcomed visiting naval ships; FGS Magdeburg, HMS Sutherland, HMS Tyne, HNMLS Groningen, HSwMS Ulvon, HSwMS Vinga, RoKNS Dae Jo-Young, RoKNS Hwa Cheon.

Wednesday's highlights: 

  • Ministerial keynote address in air theatre discussed the latest issues in the aerospace supply chain and network around a dedicated programme of seminars tailored for the air community.
  • Chief of the Air Staff  provided a keynote address in the air theatre. The dedicated air seminar gave a platform for senior ministers and domestic/international military personnel.
  • Air seminar programme focused on Combat Air and ISTAR and also included presentations from other senior RAF personnel and Rolls-Royce.
Land Theatre

Thursday's highlights: 

  • Chief of the General Staff, introduced the British Army Symposium in the land theatre.
  • The Minister for Defence Personnel, Welfare and Veterans, attended and spoke at the Corporate Covenant signing ceremony on the Royal Navy stand.

DSEI 2013 was host to record number of global VIPs

DSEI 2013 enjoyed a strong presence across each of its six dedicated zones – Land, Air, Naval, Security & Special Forces, Medical & Disaster Relief and the award winning Unmanned Systems Showcase. 

DSEI welcomed guests from new and traditional markets including high calibre representatives from 121 countries

Senior official visitors to DSEI represent the highest level within national governments, central defence staff, national armament directorates and armed services from land, sea, air and security

Nations making their debut among the record 40 international pavilions included Japan, South Korea, Chile and UAE

The event also enjoyed the strongest ever attendance from UK ministers and the MOD. Secretary of State for Defence, Philip Hammond, provided a keynote address on the show’s opening day

The signing of the Corporate Covenant took place on the penultimate day of the event. Mark Francois – the Minister for Defence Personnel, Welfare and Veterans – was joined by prime contractors in order to pledge their support for the Armed Forces community
