DSEI, the global exhibition for land, maritime and air applications of defence and security products and technologies, has won the Best Trade Show category of the prestigious Exhibition News Awards.
Competition for the title was, in the words of the awards scheme organisers, ‘incredibly tough’, with DSEI vying with a range of major international events. The win highlights the achievement of the Clarion Defence & Security team that were staging their second DSEI, following the company’s acquisition of the event in 2008.
DSEI 2011 took place at London ExCeL between September 13 – 16, attracting more than 28,000 visitors from 121 countries. The internationality of the event was demonstrated by the presence of exhibitors from 46 countries, including 30 national pavilions.
DSEI Exhibition Director, Duncan Reid, said, ‘DSEI 2011 was an outstanding success, not only in respect of the number of exhibitors and visitors participating but also their satisfaction levels, something which has been evidenced by independent research. For 2011 we set out to make the event more interactive and engaging for visitors, with new features such as an unmanned systems demonstration area, the security zone and the military vehicle park. It was a very demanding task and the fact that everything worked so well is a tribute to a superb effort by the whole DSEI team.’
The award was presented to Tim Porter, Managing Director, Clarion Defence & Security and the show team at a ceremony at Olympia West Hall on 29 March 2012.
