New focus area introduced in 2011: Security showcase and demonstration zone

International agencies, government organisations, industry and academia shared awareness of threats, built relationships and displayed their latest innovative products in this brand new focus area. The zone consisted of a seminar theatre encompassing strategic presentations, thought provoking panel debates and informative product reviews, focusing on security. Senior members of the international security community especially benefited from the dedicated security day on Thursday, 15 September.

Good cross section of exhibiting companies from security sector

The international security industry was well represented by large prime contractors, research organisations, manufacturers and service providers, such as BAE Systems, Finmeccanica, Thales, Northrop Grumman, Lockheed Martin, QinetiQ, Explora Security, Avon Protection, Remploy and G4S.

Also many of the small and medium sized enterprises that play a distinctive role in innovation in the security domain were present in strength. Participating companies included secure communications systems specialists Altera and Lanode and Chronos Technology with its global positioning and navigation products.

The security industry service area was represented with exhibitors like 3SDL, a leading provider of acquisition services to defence and security clients globally; Wolfestone, which specialises in translation for the defence and security sectors; and Capita, which will be showcasing recruitment and outsourcing within secure environments.
